Cadet Shawna Goulding | Building up community
It seems as though I’m at a loss for words when it comes to describing the ministry opportunities I have experienced over the last 10 weeks or so at my field placement. Sure, I could share a list of activities that I have led, participated in, or observed but my learning has come from so much more than a simple list.
There have been situations where I been stretched, where God has used me despite what I may have felt to be limitations. It has been in these moments where I have been reminded that I have accepted the call to officership not based on my own strength but rather, on God’s.
As I have shadowed my Field Supervisor, I have walked alongside a corps officer that has a heart for people and a desire to bring them to a closer relationship with God. It has been a privilege to be encouraged and empowered as I have been given the opportunity to take on leadership in certain areas within the corps (both on the forefront and behind the scenes). Being involved in and building up community, both inside and outside the walls of the corps building, has been a great reminder of the huge mission field that is ours.
