Major Isobel Wagner - Instructor/Field Training Officer
Isobel was born in Ipswich, England to Salvation Army Officer parents. In her early years the family immigrated to Canada and her parents resumed their officership in the Canada and Bermuda territory. Isobel entered the Training College as an “Ambassador for Christ” in 1987 and was commissioned and ordained as an officer of the Salvation Army in 1989. Her education before and after Training College has earned her the following credentials: BRE and MTS (Tyndale), BA (Waterloo) and MA in Conflict Analysis and Management (Royal Roads).
Isobel has been married to Mark since 1982 and shares life and ministry with him. They have five children: Lynn (Joel), Marci (Jordan), Travis (Kelly), Evangeline (Raul) and Wesley. They also have five grandchildren: Kayleigh , James , Gideon, Acacia and Patrick. Their children currently live in BC, Manitoba and Ontario.
Together with her husband Mark, she has spent 28 years in pastoral ministry, serving Salvation Army congregations across Canada (Sackville NS, London ON, North York ON, Richmond Hill ON, Victoria BC, Ajax/Pickering ON and Cariboo Hill Temple in Burnaby BC) and church planting (Richmond Hill and Westsong in Victoria). She has also served as the Director of Family Services at Hope Community Church in Ajax/Pickering and held the additional responsibility of Area Commander while she was stationed at Cariboo Hill Temple in Burnaby, British Columbia. She is currently an Instructor and Field Training Officer at the College for Officer Training in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
