2014 Winter Assignment Highlights – Cadet Steven Toynton
What an incredible time I had in the beautiful province of Newfoundland and Labrador!
My winter assignment was at the Lewisporte Corps (Church), located in the central part of Newfoundland. The Corps Officers (Pastors), Majors Joshua and Pauline Randell, along with members of their congregation, have been incredibly warm and friendly to me; typical of the hospitality that Newfoundlanders are known for.
The Corps reaches out to the town and surrounding communities with the gospel through various forms of providing assistance through their Community Care Ministries team and Family Services.
I have had the wonderful privilege of being actively engaged in the many avenues of ministry that exist here. This included preaching God’s Word, sharing my testimony and visiting area nursing/retirement homes. The most humbling and impactful experiences that I have had here have been those times in which I visited people who are shut-in due to ill health or who are in their senior years and are lonely.
The experiences and memories that are mine through the ministry in Lewisporte will, no doubt, remain with me forever!
