IMG_9095The Salvation Army Partners in Mission campaign raises funds to provide the necessary monies for the ministry of the Salvation Army world-wide.

This year’s focus is Liberia and Sierra Leone, two countries in West Africa.  The CFOT Missions Director for 2013/2014, Cadet Norman Porter (Disciples of the Cross session) answered some of our questions about this year’s Partners in Mission goals and activities.

CFOT:  What is the goal for this year’s Partners in Mission donation?

Cadet Porter:     $8,000.00 to be raised by June 2014.

CFOT:  What are some of your fundraising activities?

Cadet Porter:  We have had a monthly missions lunch, with food donated and prepared by the Cadets and Officers at CFOT.  The next three lunches will be held on February 11, March 4 and April 1.  These are all Tuesdays.  All of the lunches are held at CFOT – 290 Vaughan Street, downstairs multi-purpose room at Noon.  The suggested donation is $5.00.  All are welcome to enjoy a meal and fellowship.  There is ample parking in the parking lot adjacent to the CFOT building.

CFOT:  Can anyone come to the Missions Lunch?  Do we have to let anyone know if we are bringing a group?IMG_9088

Cadet Porter:  Yes, all are welcome but we would appreciate knowing if you are going to bring a large group.  Please call CFOT at 204-924-5606, the Friday before the Lunch,  and let the receptionist know the number of people that are coming.

CFOT:  Have you had any other activities?

Cadet Porter:  We are just about sold-out of our CFOT – cadet/officer/staff calendar.  Each month features cadets, officers and staff who have birthdays that month.  They are going fast but some are still available (until the end of January) from CFOT Cadets.  They are a bargain at $15.00 each.

The CFOT Missions Team will be meeting to plan some other events for the remainder of the CFOT semester.  Stay tuned for more information.  CFOT appreciates your support in helping us to reach our Partners in Mission goal for this year.
